Palembang City, Indonesia (October 8, 2024) – Wyndham Opi Palembang is thrilled to announce a new City Tour Package that will bring guests to top attractions in Palembang including the enchanting Kemaro Island, a celebrated tourist attraction steeped in folklore and historical significance. Situated just 20 minutes from Wyndham Opi Palembang and a short travel distance from Kuto Besak Fort, Kemaro Island rests serenely in the middle of the Musi River. This island is famed for its mythology, featuring a love story that transcends cultural and religious boundaries. Kemaro Island is home to several historical landmarks, including the Buddhist Hok Tjing Rio Temple, an impressive nine-level pagoda, and the famed pathway walked by Prince Tan Bun An, Princess Siti Fatimah, and her loyal guards. These landmarks are believed to be inspired by the island's legendary creation tale. The folklore that captivates many visitors revolves around the love story of Tan Bun An, the son of a Chinese king and a devout Buddhist, and Siti Fatimah, an Islamic descendant of the Sriwijaya empire. Despite their diverse backgrounds, their love flourished, culminating in a union that won the hearts of both families. Their story, however, took a tragic turn when Tan Bun An discovered decaying vegetables instead of gold in the jars gifted by his father. In his frustration, he threw the jars into the Musi River, only to realize too late that the final jar contained the promised gold. Overcome with regret, he dived into the river to retrieve the lost treasure, followed by his guards and Siti Fatimah, who all tragically never resurfaced. A mound of soil then appeared in the middle of the Musi River. It grew continually and is now known as Kemaro Island. Guests can experience this fascinating tour with Wyndham Opi Palembang's City Tour Package, which includes comfortable transportation to the attractions. Guests who want to visit to Kemaro Island will be dropped off at Ampera Bridge/Benteng Kuto Besak port to take a boat trip across the Musi River to Kemaro Island. The boat trip typically costs between IDR 150,000 and 200,000 per person. To book and learn more about the City Tour Package, please email reservations@wyndhamopipalembang.com or message the hotel on Instagram @wyndhamopi.For media inquiries, please contact:Alan BudimanMarketing ManagerWyndham Opi Hotel Palembang+62 878 9721 2290marcom@wyndhamopipalembang.com
